The New Age Trap
Old Vices repackaged....
Words I like: You’re never tired when your winning.
Pablo’s Perspective:
We love to look at history, judge the vices of past generations, and think we’ve evolved. But let’s be honest we didn't beat the addiction... We just put it on a smartphone screen.
The Modern Digital Trap
Look at these statistics, I think you would be surprised.
The New Cigarette: Vaping has replaced traditional smoking. Data shows that 15.5% of young adults aged 18 to 25 currently use vapes, with daily usage rates nearly doubling between 2020 and 2024.
The New Casino: Traditional gambling required walking into an actual casino or going to the corner store and getting a scratch off. Today, its all in your phone. Sports betting is a massive $148.7 billion industry, and nearly a quarter of American adults have an active online betting account. For young adults under 30, that number jumps to nearly 30%, with 1 in 10 reporting problem-gambling behaviors.
The New Strip Club: The rise of OnlyFans has repackaged adult entertainment into an easily accessible, high-margin corporate model that preys on loneliness, turning basic human connection into a transaction.
The New Television: Short-form social media feeds aren't just modern entertainment they are the new, repackaged television. Decades ago, families came home to zone out in front of scheduled programming, using the TV as a pacifier. Today, the algorithm feeds you exactly what you want to see. It uses variable reward schedules to keep an entire generation comfortably numb.
I still get sucked into the scrolling trap myself. I'm working hard to protect my business hours from it, but breaking the habit is easier said than done. So I know how difficult it is to break the cycle.
The Reality Check
I know what you might be thinking. Pointing this out makes me sound like an old man.
To some, the fact that I was born in 1993 might even make me old. But I’m not trying to preach.
I just call it like I see it an objective observation of the world we're living in
The cost of these traps are still the same: lost focus, drained wealth, and hopelessness.
So whats the answer to all of this?
Reading physical books, doing hard work, and going to the gym.
But let’s be real nobody wants to hear that. But, the people who build true, compounding wealth are the ones willing to do the boring work while everyone else is distracted. Protect your attention and focus on building assets rather than consuming distractions.

Did you know? 💡
The Attention Shift: Research indicates that heavy use of short-form, infinite-scroll content is directly linked to reduced sustained attention. Rather than shrinking your brain, habitual exposure to fast-paced digital media trains your cognitive control system to constantly crave instant gratification, making it harder to focus on slower, more complex tasks.
